Clinic Nurse

Founded in 1973, Boulder Valley Health Center (BVHC) is a small outpatient community clinic that has been a leader in providing reproductive and sexual health services, abortion care, and education to all people, including those who face barriers to accessing high-quality and equitable healthcare.
The Clinic Nurse is an essential member of our clinical care team who delivers quality patient care consistent with our mission and is responsible for ensuring high-quality services to our patients. The ideal candidate will enjoy rolling up their sleeves to help our outpatient clinic move through a period of efficiency and innovative transitions.
This is a salary-exempt 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week) position that reports to the Medical Director. We offer an hourly rate of $34.00 - $39.00 hourly based on relevant experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Works as a collaborative and supporting member of the Clinical Care team, with responsibilities assigned to keep all members of the team working top of scope, but with a willingness to pitch in to encourage a positive work environment and to keep the day flowing efficiently.
- Triages patient calls during business hours, supporting the call-center team to provide outstanding support to our patients.
- Follows standing order policy and procedure.
- Provides STI screening for asymptomatic patients, including providing education on safe sex, risk reduction practices, and specimen ordering and engages in RN Visits as defined by clinical leadership.
- Follows federal regulations, such as Title X, OSHA, and HIPAA.
- Charts accurately and correctly in the electronic health record (NextGen).
- At least one week per month of overnight call, with additional compensation of $300 per week (average 5-8 calls per week, remote call only.)
- Contacts patients with results or as an assigned task and provides in-scope management of care.
- Participates in laboratory compliance duties. Responds to laboratory and pharmacy faxes, including completion of prior authorizations.
- Participates in scope-appropriate abortion care, including assisting in procedural abortions, evaluating patients for appropriate sedation options, and monitoring patients in the recovery room.
- Provides oral / IV sedation for surgical abortion procedures.
- Additional responsibilities subject to organizational needs.
- Provides scope-appropriate transvaginal or abdominal ultrasound, if trained and privileged to do so by BVHC medical leadership.
Pharmacy Responsibilities
- Assists with pharmacy operations, including working collaboratively with the BVHC Nursing team to:
- Maintain pharmacy standards in compliance with CRS 12-22-119.
- Meet with a consultant pharmacist four times a year.
- Bottle medications by pharmacy regulations.
- Complete pharmacy inventory regularly and as needed.
- Works with Nursing leadership to evaluate and update the in-house medication inventory.
- Manages expired medications and failed IUD replacements per laws and requirements.
- Orders vaccines and serves as a resource for vaccine administration.
- Maintains emergency supplies, works with provider staff to create reproductive health emergency protocols, and provides ongoing staff training in clinical emergency preparedness.
Required Qualifications
- Passionate about reproductive health care and family planning services, including abortion care. Must be aligned with BVHC’s mission.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing.
- CO State Licensure and Compact State Licensure.
- BLS and CPR Certification.
- At least one year of clinical experience in an outpatient setting.
- Knowledge of reproductive health and family planning.
- Experience utilizing electronic health records.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Must possess strong time management skills, an unwavering attention to detail, and great organization.
- Able to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of providers, RNs, MAs, and PSAs.

Desired Qualifications
- Experience with NextGen EHR is strongly desired.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
