Personal Lines Underwriter - Floating Home - Our client is a local insurance carrier in Portland, focusing on a niche market and they are open to training for this position. The ideal training candidate will have some experience within the Property & Casualty insurance industry.
The successful candidate will:
- Learn and demonstrate knowledge of policy coverage forms, basic underwriting techniques/processes and company procedures and successfully apply this knowledge to risks within authority delegated.
- Have strong organizational skills and able to make decisions, meet deadlines, and work independently.
- Demonstrate effective communication abilities while working with customers and co-workers.
- Build and foster successful relationships with agents/brokers.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze and select or reject risks for personal lines property & casualty products.
- Price exposures based upon rating and underwriting techniques.
- Perform data entry of new submissions to generate quote or declination.
- Request, review and sign off on Loss Control Surveys and apply recommendations as appropriate.
- Analyze, identify and negotiate appropriate solutions to handle customer issues.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED Certificate required.
- Prior experience in property/casualty insurance preferred.
- Typing 40 WPM.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary is $52,000 per year as this an entry level position.
