The New Jersey Turnpike Authority (NJTA) is a state agency responsible for maintaining the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway - two of the busiest toll roads in the United States. The NJTA is dedicated to the safe and efficient movement of people and goods along their toll roads. Everyday, the Authority’s highways provide the safest, quickest, and most convenient routes for hundreds of commuters, truckers, and recreational travelers.
Under the general direction of the Assistant Director, Software Engineering Services, the Application Support Specialist: Engineering Platforms will be responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, updating, and upgrading various applications in the engineering software portfolio. Daily activities include supporting end-users and ensuring applications are operational. This position includes a wide range of responsibilities and duties involving the maintenance and upkeep of engineering related applications, which are in accordance with the Authority’s goals and requirements.
- Coordinate with other teams in the Information Technology Services Department, as well as, throughout the Authority, specifically the Engineering Department, to identify IT needs, identify integration requirements, document business use cases, and design a robust application environment.
- Plan, coordinate, install and configure software, load data, apply permissions and perform maintenance work, such as system back-up, recovery, and file maintenance, while communicating changes, upgrades/maintenance schedules, and new services to all end-users, all the while maintaining minimal down time.
- Provide technical and business support to end-users, as well as, other IT professionals. Support will be through Service Desk tickets and training programs.
- Provide regular project status and estimates to management.
- Provide support in quality assurance testing, disaster recovery exercises, and business continuity plans.
- Monitor, document, analyze, and troubleshoot software applications.
- Create FAQs, How-tos, and templates to facilitate software adoption.
- Plan, coordinate, test, and communicate
- Lead audits to ensure appropriate controls and audit logs are in place.
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies and business processes.
- Enable and maintain best practices and process automation.
- Assist with all incoming trouble tickets.
- Work with vendors and contractors as directed.
- Monitor and maintain software licensing and maintenance agreements.
- Ensure projects hit milestones on time and escalate to proper stakeholders as needed.
- Solid understanding of project management methodology, including the ability to troubleshoot project roadblocks and proactively seek solutions to meet deadlines.
