Essential Therapeutics is a small company owned by an Occupational Therapist who partners with private schools and the department of developmental disabilities to provide pediatric therapy services. Essential Therapeutics is passionate about providing holistic collaborative school and home based therapy to children, with an emphasis on family communication and teacher education for carry over throughout the week. Essential Therapeutics is looking for an enthusiastic, patient, caring and creative Occupational Therapist to work in a school setting for children diagnosed with emotional disabilities, autism and sensory processing disorders.
Job Type: Part-time independent contractor (OT)
Positions available:
- Estimated 8-9 hours per week- in person therapy at a school in Maryvale for a caseload of approximately 22 students at a private school.
- Estimated 6-7 hours per week 3/4 weeks each month- in person therapy at a school in east Phoenix for a caseload of approximately 15 students at a private school.
- Virtual or in person home health clients can be added to caseload if interested.
Required experience: 1 year pediatric experience

Responsibilities:
- Maintain documentation in a timely manner including therapy notes, IEP paperwork, evaluation reports, and Medicaid billing.
- Communicate regularly with team members and parents, working collaboratively to develop and implement effective and appropriate educational plans.
- Utilize current evidence based practice and maintain effective progress monitoring methods.
- Monitor the implementation of educational relevant programs to enhance performance by instructional staff.
- Evaluate, modify, and document the effectiveness of Occupational Therapy intervention as it relates to the student's education program.
Qualifications and Skills
- Comfortable with sensory integration techniques within the school setting.
- Experience with children in special education settings including functional skills.
- Experience with IEP’s, Handwriting Improvement Techniques and common Pediatric Assessments (BOT-2, PDMS-2, Beery-VMI, Sensory Profile, etc.).
- Good communication skills when interacting with teachers, administrative staff and caregivers while discussing student’s plan of care and areas of concerns.
