Business Development Manager
Location: Remote, within designated sales territory
Reports To: Director of Sales Operations
I. General Description:
The Business Development Manager (BDM) at Advantage Sport & Fitness (ASF) plays a critical role in driving revenue growth across specific territories and market segments. Reporting to the Director of Sales Operations, this remote position requires collaboration with field-based sales representatives and cross-functional teams to strategize, execute, and achieve business development goals. The BDM is responsible for building a robust pipeline of opportunities through diligent research, prospecting, and lead qualification, ultimately providing the sales team with high-quality leads for further development and closure.
II. Skills/Character Requirements:
A. Interpersonal/Communication Skills:
The BDM must excel in communication, professionally interacting with customers, colleagues, and management. Strong verbal and written skills are essential for representing ASF effectively through phone calls, emails, and presentations.
B. Market Understanding/Sales Acumen:
An in-depth understanding of designated market segments, including sales and marketing strategies, effective selling techniques, buying cycles, and decision-making processes, is crucial.
C. Technical Proficiency:
Proficiency in cloud-based applications and sales technologies such as CRM software, O365, Excel, and file-sharing software is required.
D. Organizational/Planning Skills:
Exceptional organizational skills are necessary to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. The BDM must demonstrate the ability to plan, execute, and follow up on various tasks and projects.
E. General Characteristics:
The BDM must be proactive, capable of independent work, and possess a performance-oriented mindset. Strong collaboration within a team-oriented environment is essential to achieving organizational success.
III. Job Responsibilities:
A. Pipeline Development:
- Identify potential customers and implement proactive outreach strategies to generate discovery meetings and build a strong sales pipeline through phone calls, emails, and other outreach methods.
- Develop a deep understanding of ASF products and services, competitor offerings, and industry trends.
- Achieve the established annual opportunities-generated quota.
B. Sales and Marketing Collaboration:
- Work closely with sales and marketing teams to create impactful promotional campaigns and events for lead nurturing.
- Collaborate with fellow ASF BDMs and market vendors to establish best practices and facilitate lead sharing.
C. Customer Engagement:
- Participate in professional association meetings and networking events when appropriate.
- Support field sales representatives in delivering compelling, persuasive, high-quality presentations to decision-makers.
D. Data Management:
- Maintain accurate prospect and project data in the company's CRM or other sales management systems.
IV. Compensation/Benefits:
- The Business Development Manager position is salaried, full-time, FLSA nonexempt and eligible for benefits as per company policies and the Employee Handbook.
- Benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and 401K plans with 3% employer contribution.
- Work remotely from anywhere within our sales territory with provided laptop and phone. Sales territory currently includes most of the East Coast, extending from New York to northern Florida.
- Annual salary range is $55,000 to $70,000 commensurate with experience and ability. Additional Bonus Incentive Plan for meeting established goals can increase salary further.
V. Hours Required:
The expected workweek is 40-45 hours, primarily during regular business hours, with occasional extended hours as needed by business demands.
