Stevedoring Superintendent - Dry-bulk
Reporting to the Corporate VP Operations:
- Create a zero-incident safety culture for our associates as well as contractors and ensure compliance to all safe work practices.
- Coordinate activities of associates engaged in all phases of stevedoring operations. Under the direction of management, provide comprehensive tactical work direction to the workforce at the beginning of each assignment during the execution of operational plans; provide assessment of the work upon completion of the vessel or terminal operation.
- Establish and maintain necessary crew/work schedules to properly execute stevedoring operations plans to meet the customer needs.
- Supervise positive and productive relations with associates, contract employees and host terminal employees while ensuring cargo is efficiently managed according to customers’ needs.
- Understand and accurately develop vessel schedules, production, payroll-related, safety and other reports using computer systems or manual processes as directed. Distributes reporting to appropriate management staff, customers and others as required on a timely basis.
- Manage information flow with agents, ports, surveyors, brokers, shipowners, customers and internal stakeholders on vessel schedules and operations.
- Review, monitor and report on cargo vessel production.
- Monitor laytime statements with Stevedore Supervisors and approve final laytime calculations.
- Provide feedback to management regarding equipment requirements to efficiently execute the vessel or stevedoring plan in the most cost-effective manner.
- Coordinate with Corporate Accounting to plan the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
- Approve all stevedoring related invoicing related to vessel and customers.
- Assist Management team in forecasting of shipping related revenues and costs.
- Develop and maintain positive customer relations by understanding customer needs, contract terms and conditions, and by implementing plans to address those needs.
- Ensure compliance with area accident prevention, safety and workers' compensation procedures and requirements. Identify, investigate and report damages and liabilities to the appropriate management and authorities.
- Train and develop subordinates in stevedoring operations.
- Review and evaluate the performance of employees under his/her supervision and impose corrective action when circumstances warrant.
- Develop, maintain and assure that an accurate and timely reporting process is in place for reporting time/wages to the payroll department.
- Organize and maintain an accurate record keeping process for site stevedoring operations.
- Confer with other supervisors in organization to coordinate activities of individual departments.
- Plan and coordinate maintenance activities with internal resources and 3rd party contractors to minimize disruption to operations
- Drive continuous improvement in processes and stevedoring operations.
- Serve as ECSC representative related to commercial, regulatory, and others as required.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma / equivalent required. Bachelor’s Degree in logistics, management, engineering or closely related field (Preferred)
- 5+ years related bulk materials handling experience or bulk stevedoring operations experience
- 3~5 years management experience
- Mechanical experience preferred
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite as well as other applications
- Must be able to analyze financial and cost data and develop conclusions and recommendations.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to change.
- Ability to work safely and direct others to work safely, with an emphasis on following procedures and best management practices
- Transportation Worker Identity Credential required within 90 days of hire.

Pay: $33.00 - $35.00 per hour
