JOB SUMMARY:
The Master Electrician plays a vital role by supporting production through preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of both CNC and general machinery on the shop floor. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the timely response to breakdowns, recording and tracking activities such as equipment repairs, time keeping and work order/preventative maintenance closure and participation in Root Cause Analysis activities at the plant to improve equipment up-time.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Responsible for installing, wiring, and repairing industrial equipment, including industrial kilns, CNC equipment, general machinery, and packaging equipment.
· Troubleshoot and perform required electrical maintenance on motors and controls, analog and digital devices, computers and PLC’s, CNC controls, safety circuits, power supplies, robotics, mechanical and hydraulic systems, CNC machines and, and other equipment.
· Experience working with and knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) regulations.
· Ability to troubleshoot electrical/electronic systems.
· Understand of ladder diagrams/logic and competent in the programming and troubleshooting of programmable controllers.
· Understanding of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems as well as drawings of such systems to facilitate repair efforts.
· Support routine preventive maintenance to ensure that production machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
· Diagnose mechanical problems, determine how to correct them, and repair as appropriate and reassemble equipment to working order.
· Ability to utilize precision instruments in either Metric or English measurement systems.
· Effectively communicate through written communication to effectively address maintenance repair needs.
· Ability to work in an MS Windows environment including Microsoft Office programs.
· Experience planning, scheduling, and ordering materials for all types of electrical construction jobs.
· Ability to document electrical changes and or new installations through written information and/or prints.
· Experience operating forklifts for repair of equipment.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
· Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly; must be able to stand for periods of up to 3 hours.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, self-motivation, adaptability, tactfulness, and decisiveness. Ability to work with co-workers to accomplish work with a high level of quality and efficiency.
· Ability to prioritize workloads with minimal supervision, and plan work effectively.
· Candidates must have proven ability to work well with others, be self-motivated, work with little or no supervision, multitask and prioritize daily.
· Must possess and maintain a State of Vermont Master Electrician license.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is normally performed on site at STC’s office in St. Albans, Vermont. Work is generally performed both on the shop floor, which can be noisy and dusty, as well as hot during the summer and in the office. Proper safety equipment is provided by STC where necessary.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work may involve standing and walking for moderate to lengthy periods of time, with some duties performed from a seated position. There is potential for eyestrain from reading detailed materials and computer screens. Deadlines, workloads during peak periods, and changing priorities may cause increased stress levels. The Production Supervisor may be required to bend and/or squat to properly inspect or run equipment. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and push hand carts loaded with up to 500 lbs.
