South Portland Schools is seeking a dedicated and skilled School Psychologist to join our dynamic special education teams. Position Highlights:
- Location: Two elementary schools in the South Portland School District.
- Facilities: Enjoy an office space at each school, providing a professional environment for your work.
- Team: Join a supportive team of 4 other experienced school psychologists and a district consulting licensed psychologist who work closely together to enhance student well-being and academic performance.
- Evaluations: Manage an average volume of around 60 special education evaluations annually, ensuring each student receives the attention and support they need. Opportunities for summer evaluations for additional compensation is often available if desired.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and evaluations for special education eligibility.
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) in collaboration with teachers, parents, and other specialists.
- Consult with teachers, parents, and administrators to develop effective intervention strategies and classroom management techniques.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to data-driven decision-making processes.
- Offer crisis intervention and support as needed.
Qualifications:
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in School Psychology from an accredited institution.
- State certification or licensure as a School Psychologist.
- Strong knowledge of psychological assessment tools and techniques.
- Experience with special education processes and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and manage a diverse caseload.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working in elementary school settings.
- Familiarity with behavior intervention plans and positive behavior support strategies.
- Proficiency in data analysis and progress monitoring.
