BHT Job Description
The role of the Behavior Health Technician (BHT) is essential in the successful implementation of the Intensive Behavior Health Services (IBHS) treatment plan, authored by the Behavior Consultant. Primarily.
The basic function of the BHT is to work one-on-one with an identified child to implement a treatment/behavioral plan agreed upon by the family and all other treatment team members. The role of the BHT is to implement the Individualized Treatment Plan, monitor the child’s activities and intervene as needed using behavior management, and crisis intervention techniques, as well as assist the child in development of self-management skills.
BHT Essential Duties:
- Monitor activities of assigned child with emphasis being placed on any identified problem areas.
- Intervene as needed when problem behaviors are exhibited. Interventions may include removing child from area, talking with child about behaviors, accessing support of parent or professional as indicated by location of assignment, and implementing plan procedures as indicated with child by using appropriated and learned interventions only.
- Implement plan in specialty areas such as behavioral plans, recreation plans, art/leisure plans as developed.
- Maintain records of service delivery noting progress and problem areas.
- Report for clinical consultation on a weekly basis and/or as necessary.
- Complete all continuing education units as required.

BHT Qualifications:
1) Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in the provision of behavioral health services.
OR
2) Have completed a 40-hour training covering the RBT Task List as evidenced by a certification that includes the name of the responsible trainer, who is certified as a BCBA or BCaBA (training available through Staffmore, LLC)
The BHT position also requires the following credentialing items:
Clearances (dated within the past 12 months):
PA Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance
PA Act 34 Pennsylvania State Criminal Clearance
PA Act 114 FBI Fingerprint Clearance
Trainings:
- PA Act 31 Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting.
- All additional education, training, or supervision requirements stipulated by the Department of Public Welfare with Medical Assistance Bulletins.
- Participation in all mandatory and ongoing trainings.

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
