Repsol has an opening for a Sr. Financial Reporting Accountant to support the CFO Financial Accounting and Reporting unit based onsite at our office in The Woodlands, Texas. This position supports the Financial Reporting Manager with a broad range of month-end close responsibilities and complex accounting duties.
Responsibilities
Research and document the technical accounting treatment of business transactions in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards.
Responsible for month-end close tasks including preparation and posting of journal entries, review of general ledger activity for reasonableness and assisting others to resolve accounting close issues.
Analyze and summarize financial information including comparative periods variance review and explanations and other financial reporting for management.
Prepare single entity and consolidated financial statements with related footnote disclosures in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards.
Responsible for IFRS 16 lease accounting review and journal entries.
Lead ad-hoc accounting projects and other corporate initiatives as required.
Liaise with internal and external auditors ensuring timely delivery of audit requests and resolution of outstanding issues.
Perform account analysis and research as required to ensure compliance with accounting standards and policies.
Support the Corporate External Financial Reporting Team with relevant data for interim and annual regulatory reporting requirement.
Collaboration with individuals from various teams and other offices regarding month-end close and other financial reporting deliverables.
Evaluate processes and controls for continuous improvement recommendations and efficiencies.
Education and Experience Requirements
The legal authorization to work in the US for any US employer without the need for sponsorship.
Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting
6+ years of financial accounting, reporting and/or audit experience (IFRS experience a plus)
Accounting experience with a global Oil & Gas company preferred.
Public accounting experience preferred.
CPA license preferred.
Prior experience with SAP or similar accounting system
Advanced in Microsoft Excel
