Job Overview:
The Software Developer position functions as a developer and business analyst for the Iowa State Association of Counties software development team. This person will have the opportunity to be involved with all levels of software development operations including innovation and client interactions.
Responsibilities:
Follows set development code and database architecture standards.
Ensures the quality of all software releases and works with team to correct issues as they are identified.
Incorporates the integration of new technology and development methodologies chosen by management.
Use Microsoft technologies: C#, ASP.NET, SQL, MVC to develop technical solutions to complex problems that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
Business modeling, SQL, relational database construction experience.
Ability to write accurate, secure, and efficient SQL queries.
Ability to write accurate, secure, and efficient C# code.
Design, code, test, debug, and document software according to the functional requirements.
Develop, maintain, and support programs/tools for internal and external clients.
Analyze, diagnose, and resolve errors related to their applications.
Analyze, define, and write project specifications for software development and hardware installations.
Follow all department standards, policies, and methodologies.
Interact and communicate effectively with all levels of staff, management and county employees, and users.
Communicate effectively and clearly, in writing and verbally, in one-on-one and group presentation situations.
Works with stakeholders to transfer business processes to technical specifications and design mockups.
Qualifications:
3-5 years of hands-on experience in building applications, with a focus on the healthcare or insurance industry.
3-5 years of experience in ASP.NET, MVC, C#, SQL, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. Mobile application development, other programming languages, or experience with cloud infrastructures are a plus.
3-5 years of experience or degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Network Administration, or a related field.
Verifiable history of varied and successful project work.
Extensive business modeling and relational database architecture experience. Experience in the development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment. Understanding of testing methodologies and experience in ensuring the quality of developed software. Ability to adapt to new technologies and frameworks as the industry evolves. Proficient in creating clear and comprehensive documentation for code, processes, and system architecture. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
Ability to respectfully engage all team members in constructive dialogue as it relates to the execution of their individual responsibilities.
Ability to shift priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Expected to work onsite at least 3 days a week and sometimes up to 5 days a week.
