Job Overview: We're on the lookout for a seasoned Financial Director to become an integral part of our team. The role involves overseeing the financial operations of the organization to ensure its financial well-being and long-term viability. This entails managing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, analysis, and compliance. The Financial Director will collaborate closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to devise and execute financial strategies aligning with the organization’s objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management
- Formulate and execute financial strategies that resonate with the organization’s objectives.
- Supervise all financial functions, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.
- Guarantee the accuracy and integrity of financial records, encompassing the general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and related systems.
- Deliver financial reports to the Executive Director and Board of Directors, accompanied by insightful analysis and recommendations.
- Ensure adherence to financial reporting standards and regulatory obligations, such as tax filings and audits.
- Cultivate relationships with external stakeholders like banks, auditors, and financial service providers.
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Spearhead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with program managers and stakeholders.
- Monitor actual performance against budget, furnishing regular updates and analysis to top management.
- Develop and maintain financial forecasting models to facilitate long-term planning and decision-making
Strategic Planning and Leadership
- Collaborate with top management to formulate and execute strategic plans aligning with the organization’s mission and vision.
- Chair the Finance Committee, offering strategic financial counsel to further organizational goals.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the finance team, nurturing a culture of improvement and professional growth.
- Work alongside senior leaders to implement strategies supporting organizational objectives.
Board Relations and Reporting
- Provide the Board of Directors with regular updates on financial performance, budget status, forecasts, and associated risks and opportunities.
- Collaborate with top management and the Board to establish financial policies and procedures in line with organizational values and strategic direction.
- Represent the organization at internal and external gatherings, offering financial expertise and support.
Tax Filing and Compliance
- Oversee all tax filings and compliance activities to ensure adherence to relevant laws and regulations.
- Manage relationships with external auditors and financial service providers to ensure compliance with reporting and regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA or CPA strongly preferred
- 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in financial management, at least 5 years in a nonprofit organization preferred.
- Proven track record of successful financial management, including experience developing and implementing financial strategies, managing budgets, and overseeing financial reporting and compliance
- Strong leadership and management skills, with experience building and leading high-performing teams
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders

- Passionate interest in mentoring others and working as a team
