Description:
We are looking for a CPU performance engineer, who will participate in research on next generation CPU architecture and microarchitecture innovations. The individual shall be responsible for the various phases of computer architecture research from the development and setup of simulation infrastructure to performance modeling of various CPU microarchitecture units to CPU workload study, but not limited to, with one or multiple responsibilities as below:
Responsibilities
o Coding, testing, and debugging a CPU model in a cycle-accurate architecture/microarchitecture simulator,
o Running simulations, and gathering and analyzing statistics thereof including submitting jobs to grid servers Linux scripts; and producing results in various formats such as text file, Microsoft Word, or Excel files,
o Generating CPU workloads including compiling benchmark applications; making simulation checkpoints; and writing test cases in C++ or Assembly language, and
o Setting up a CPU simulation environment including installing and compiling open-source simulation tools with software dependencies, often requiring Linux environment variables.
Minimum qualifications
o Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent majors
o Strong C++ and object-oriented programming skills
o Familiarity with the Linux environment
o Experience with the Python script language
o Basic understanding of computer architecture and microarchitecture including the concept of the O3 execution and the pipeline design
o Basic understanding of ISA and Assembly code
o Good verbal and written communication skills
o Being a highly organized, detail-oriented self-starter, who can deliver independently as well as in a team environment
Preferred qualifications
o Hands-on experience in CPU architecture/microarchitecture simulators such as GEM5
o CPU architecture/microarchitecture performance modeling
o Experiences in workload generation using open-source toolsets
o Master’s degree or higher

Pay: $80.00 - $90.00 per hour
