SCOPE OF WORK
Northwest Indian College is seeking a skilled SQL Database Administrator to join the IS team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the College’s databases and servers while ensuring their performance, security, and availability. The ideal candidate will be able to wear many hats and help where needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Database Administrator
· Experience with SQL, documentation, and creating custom queries.
· Troubleshoot database-related issues and provide timely resolutions.
· In-depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL/MariaDB.
· Create and administer integrations with third party tools.
· Manage database access and security.
· Provide support for servers including updates, hardware updates and general maintenance.
· A strong background in Windows Server and Workstation support.
· Provide remote and in-person support to students, staff, and faculty.
· Experience with HTML5, C#, and PowerShell a plus.
· Exposure to any of the following technologies is a plus:
o VOIP phone systems
o Canvas LMS
o Jenzabar SIS
o Linux
o Firewall appliances

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Minimum Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in database administration, computer science, management information systems or related field.
· A minimum of three (3) years in working with databases.
· Ability to troubleshoot issues, analyze database performance, and identify root causes of problems.
· Knowledge of design and structure databases for optimal performance and scalability value
· Knowledge of tools used for managing databases, such as backup/recovery software, performance monitoring tools and security tools.
· Ability to be able to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
· Familiarity with specific database platforms like Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL is often required.
· Have a firm grasp of SQL concepts for data types, operators, function and clauses. Understanding of how SQL works to write effective queries.
Preferred Qualifications
· Possess in-depth knowledge of Jenzabar modules and functionalities.
· Experience with data extraction and reporting from Jenzabar
