Scientist – Monoclonal Antibody Discovery
Job Description:
We are seeking a Scientist to work within and help to support the Monoclonal Antibody Discovery team within Global Antigen Design located at our client's facility in Waltham, MA, USA. This team member will be heavily involved in antibody discovery against BSL2 antigenic targets within the Vaccine portfolio, including designing and conducting antibody discovery campaigns, isolation and bioinformatics analysis of single B cells, as well as extensive antibody characterization. This role will also require the team member to conduct extensive literature searches, stay current with the literature, and quickly extract and summarize key points from the literature. Team member will be expected to compile and present findings frequently to both their team and to management. This position will require exceptional interpersonal skills and an ability to work in and deliver in a fast-paced environment. This job
will involve working as part of a multi-disciplinary team with the main team in Waltham, MA and will include occasional virtual meetings with additional teammates in France.
Job Responsibilities:
- Independently conduct antibody discovery campaigns against desired antigenic targets within the Vaccines portfolio
- Complete characterization of isolated antibodies (binding, kinetics, binning, functionality, etc)
- Conduct bioinformatics analysis of single cell targets
- Manage CROs for protein production and characterization
- Conduct extensive literature searches and summarize critical data
- Explore and apply novel technologies within the antibody discovery space
- Willingness to work with BSL2 pathogens in a BSL2 laboratory environment
- Assist in the training and management of laboratory technicians as needed
- Maintain an electronic laboratory notebook and detailed record keeping
- Understand project goals and identify own role in achieving them
- Compile, analyze, and present data to team members and management
- Work as part of a fast-paced, dynamic team
- Participate in team meetings
- Work in an agile environment
Requirements:
- Ph.D. or Master’s degree with 4+ years of experience in Virology, Bacteriology, Immunology
- Previous experience in industry a plus
- Strong background in and knowledge of virology and/or bacteriology
- Experience with cell sorting, flow cytometry, and/or spectral flow cytometry including analysis
- Experience working in a BSL2 environment with pathogenic materials required, experience with respiratory pathogens a plus
- Experience with single cell technologies such as 10x Genomics a plus
- Proficiency in bioinformatics software and outputs within the space of monoclonal antibody discovery (such as Immcantation, Cell Ranger VDJ, airr.tsv, IMGT) a plus
- Ability to work within a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks is critical
- Ability to independently exercise judgment in daily duties, plan, and execute experiments is critical
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills
- Great interpersonal skills, strong team player, and willingness to work in matrixed environment
- Full time, on-site position
