Job Summary:
The Director of Simulation is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the simulation program at Helene Fuld College of Nursing. This key leadership role oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of simulation-based education across all nursing programs. The Director collaborates with faculty, staff, and administration to ensure high-quality, innovative simulation experiences that enhance student learning outcomes and prepare future nurses for clinical practice.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive vision and strategy for the simulation program
- Align simulation initiatives with the college's overall mission and educational goals
- Lead continuous quality improvement efforts in simulation-based education
2. Program Management:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the simulation center
- Manage simulation staff, including the Assistant Director of Simulations
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures for simulation activities
3. Curriculum Integration:
- Collaborate with faculty to integrate simulation experiences throughout the nursing curriculum
- Ensure simulation scenarios align with course objectives and program outcomes
- Promote innovative teaching methodologies using simulation
4. Faculty Development:
- Design and implement faculty training programs on simulation pedagogy and best practices
- Mentor faculty in developing and facilitating simulation experiences
- Promote scholarship in simulation-based education
5. Technology and Resource Management:
- Oversee the selection, maintenance, and upgrading of simulation equipment and technologies
- Manage the simulation center budget
- Ensure efficient utilization of simulation resources
6. Research and Evaluation:
- Lead research initiatives related to simulation in nursing education
- Develop and implement evaluation methods for simulation experiences
- Analyze and report on the effectiveness of simulation activities
7. Interprofessional Collaboration:
- Foster partnerships with other healthcare disciplines for interprofessional simulation experiences
- Collaborate with clinical partners to ensure simulation aligns with current clinical practice
8. External Relations:
- Represent the college at professional conferences and meetings related to simulation
- Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders and industry partners
- Seek grant opportunities to support and expand simulation initiatives
Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in Nursing or related field preferred
- Master in Nursing required
- Minimum of 2 -3 years of experience in nursing education with a strong focus on simulation
- Demonstrated leadership experience in managing simulation programs
- In-depth knowledge of simulation pedagogy, technology, and best practices
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills
- Experience in curriculum development and instructional design
- Certification in healthcare simulation (CHSE) preferred
This position reports to the President and works collaboratively with other academic leadership to advance the college's commitment to excellence in nursing education through simulation.
