Callisto Pediatrics expects our Medical Receptionist to perform clerical duties in a competent, professional manner, and previous clinical experience is preferred. Essential Job Responsibilities Include:
- Completing Intake Forms, scheduling patient referrals, and completing prior authorizations.
- Scheduling patient appointments and communicating physician advice/instructions to families as needed.
- Addressing patient calls, emails, and messages in a friendly and timely manner.
- Scanning any documents, faxes, and medical records, as needed.
- Obtaining, verifying, and documenting health data of patients into the clinical medical record as needed.
- Gathering pertinent health data through patient history, vaccination record, and physical assessments such as vital signs as needed, adhering to confidentiality standards at all times.
- Assisting physician with patient care management including performing exams, diagnostic procedures/treatments, and minor medical procedures as needed.
- Organization and time management to manage a variety of tasks effectively
- Interpersonal skills to interact positively with patients who may be upset or stressed
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required). Graduation from an approved Medical Office Administrative Assistant Program or Clerical certification (Preferred)
Experience: Minimum three years of Medical Receptionist experience highly preferred, but not required; Experience in a private practice setting and experience with Office Practicum or other Electronic Health Records (EHR) is a big plus.
Other Requirements: Medical Office Administrative Assistant Certification and/or Certified/Registered Medical Billing and Coding Certification preferred. CPR Certification (Required). BLS Certification (Preferred)
Performance Requirements:
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
- Familiarity with health care systems, regulations, policies, and functions including clinical documentation standards.
- Knowledge of office equipment, supplies, and materials needed for medical receptionist.
- Understanding of basic computer software and procedures including preparation and screening.
- Knowledge of infectious disease management and control and safety standards.

- Read, understand, and follow written and oral medical orders/instructions.
- Initiate appropriate emergency procedures effectively in emergency situations.

- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and diverse patient populations.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations for appointment scheduling.

Work Environment: Medical office. Environmental setting (lighting, temperature, air quality, acoustics) controlled.
Mental/Physical Requirements: Daily standing, squatting, walking, bending, and maneuvering. May require lifting up to 50 pounds to carry/move supplies with/without assistive devices. Stress can be triggered by workload and difficult patients.

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
