Job Description Marina Deckhand and Maintenance is responsible for assisting with daily operations, including mooring, fueling, and customer service. Routine facility maintenance, equipment repairs and machinery handling at the Tamarind Reef Resort and Marina. Duties involve maintaining cleanliness, ensuring safety protocols, and supporting marina guests and colleagues.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist the Dockmaster with ensuring that all deckhands follow proper policies and procedures throughout the Marina.
- Understand, practice, and, as needed, thoroughly train others in accordance with all marina policies and procedures.
- Keeps the docks and customer areas clean and organized.
- Perform basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Assist Dockmaster with compiling and completing action items marina work lists.
- Perform and complete all routine daily tasks.
- Carries out routine cleaning duties that meet established quality standards for all marina-related operations; ensures the recognized standards are maintained and that quality and delivery commitments are met.
- Assists the Dockmaster and take the lead in marina related duties such as securing boats to docks, connecting and monitoring utility services (power, water, and telephone), black water pump out, waste disposal and facility sanitation.
- Provides the highest level of customer and guest services, expedites all requests from vessels including transport of patrons and baggage to and from dockside, delivery of provisions and packages.
- Routinely operates golf carts, motor and water vehicles, and other various mechanized equipment.
- Provides general security and supports marina and facility security teams in their security related efforts; reports disturbances in dock area to superiors and maintains general vigilance.
- Assists refueling operations when required at the marina refueling facility and ensures safe fueling procedures.
- Complying with instructions or duties as may be reasonably assigned.
- Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and sanitation policies.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Maintenance personnel are needed for the maintenance of the buildings, grounds, equipment, and related facilities.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- 1-2 years of marina experience preferred.
- Sufficient education and literacy are needed to identify and read product labels and to communicate with guests about job-related needs.
- Willing to train, customer service, or marina experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Detail-oriented and thorough.
- Ability to remain discreet and respect the privacy of guests.
- Ability to perform consistent work to the highest of standards.
- Ability to interact with guests in a pleasant friendly way.
- Ability to read write and speak and communicate in basic English preferred.
- A broad knowledge of marina operations, boat handling, and towing, plant, and equipment maintenance.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and communicate in basic English is preferred.
- Must read, write, and speak English. Minimum 1-year experience in the maintenance field
- Physically demanding, lifting, and carrying up to 50 lbs.
- Stamina to handle the job's physical demands, including working outside in hot and humid conditions.
- Must have basic general knowledge of plumbing, electrical, painting and equipment repair and work with minimal supervision. Must be familiar with power and hand tools.
- Proven skills or the willingness to be trained in administration, seamanship, communication, health and safety, plant and equipment maintenance, and marina operations.
- Familiarity with common marina operational documentation (e.g. agreements, contracts, terms and conditions, marina rules and regulations etc.) and the ability to analyze them.
- A positive attitude combined with the ability to communicate fluently and relate well to customers in the leisure environment and the ability to manage and motivate staff.
- Commercial awareness and an eye for detail in all aspects of work.
- High standards of presentation and accuracy in written work.
- Proficient swimmer
- Full driving license

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
