Overview:
The Surgery Nurse Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the surgery department. The manager has oversight for clinical staff including registered nurses, surgical technologists, and patient care technicians. The Nurse Manager has 24/7 responsibility for competency/educations of staff, unit specific PI activities, and operations of the department. The Nurse Manager will practice within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Arkansas and the policies, procedures, and standards of Dardanelle Regional Medical Center. The Nurse Manager demonstrates a commitment to teamwork through effective collaborative efforts.
SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION:
This position is a designated as “Safety Sensitive Position” under Act 593 of the State of Arkansas. An employee who is under the influence of Marijuana constitutes a threat to patients/customers which Conway Regional is responsible for in providing and supporting the delivery health care related services.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse with current, active license to practice in Arkansas

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Unit specific certification preferred

Three (3) years clinically related experience

One (1) year Supervisor experience preferred.
Responsibilities:
NURSING PROCESS:

Assess the needs of the unit.
-
Promotes nursing care which supports Dardanelle Regional Medical Center.

Collaborates in planning for the educational needs of the staff by coordinating orientation and staff development programs: develops departmental education programs based on identified needs and regulatory standards for continuing education.

Coordinates unit involvement with community educational needs.
-
Assists to meet financial objectives for the unit.
-
Displays effective customer service skills in interactions with patients, visitors, physicians, and employees of Dardanelle Regional Medical Center.

Demonstrates clinical knowledge of nursing practices and procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to patient care.
-
Assists in the development and implementation of programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures that promote quality nursing care.

Assists in the evaluation of the effectiveness of the unit in delivering quality patient care.
-
Practices according to safety and infection control policies.
-
Initiates and follows established standards in emergency situations.

Maintains confidentiality in matters relating to patient, family, and staff.

Supports patients, families, and significant individuals, in a variety of emotional situations including anxiety, grief, and anger.

Coordinates and participates in PI activities on the unit: ensures departmental PI activities meet regulatory compliance.

Participates in multi-disciplinary approaches to patient care.

Attends and participates in monthly staff meetings.

Attends interdisciplinary committees as delegated by Director of Nursing.

Communicates effectively with the Clinical Director, physicians, and hospital personnel.

Delegates effectively to other staff members as needed.

Promotes positive internal and external customer relations.

Exhibits leadership and management abilities and the willingness to work with an interdisciplinary health care team.

Participates in the Nursing Leadership Weekend Call Rotation

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Requires full range of body motion including the ability to stand and walk for extended periods and to lift a weight of 50 pounds or more.
