CNC Operator
A CNC Operator is responsible for overseeing the daily functions of manufacturing machinery. Their duties include programming and monitoring machines, loading materials to be processed, basic post process tasks and inspecting machinery at the end of each shift.
Job tasks include but are not limited to the following:
- Set up or program the computer responsible for the machinery.
- Follow safety requirements.
- Inspect the machinery and product for quality assurance.
- Perform daily maintenance on the machinery.
- Handle materials appropriately and safely.
- Various post process tasks
Controlling Machines and Processes
Technical Skills
- Ability to analyze the information provided on blueprints or other explanatory documents to make sure the final product matches the draft
- Understanding of how the machine works to maintain the machinery for which they are responsible and ensure it functions properly
- Problem-solving skills in order to detect issues in the creation process and find solutions to ensure the machinery creates the product provided in the draft
Physical Requirements
- Considerable periods of standing.
- Requires kneeling, crouching, stooping or crawling.
- Requires lifting 50 lbs without assistance.
Work Environment
Work is performed in a Boat yard, which can subject workers to loud levels of noise, fumes, debris, tripping hazards and sharp metal edges. Personal protective equipment will be provided to staff, but personnel are responsible for ensuring that the equipment is properly used and for being aware of their surroundings.
