POSITION TITLE: Convenience Store Manager Trainee DEPARTMENT: Convenience Store
REPORTS TO: District Manager
The Manager trainee will be learning from an existing Convenience Store manager and the District Manager the daily, weekly, and monthly responsibilities. This position will require flexibility for the working environment and the willingness and ability to be placed at a certain point as Manager of a store. The Manager trainee will maintain a positive attitude that promotes teamwork and a favorable image of the business. This position requires an individual to relocate to one of the communities within our region.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Recruit, hire, and train positive individuals to become members of the Farmers Co-op Oil Company team, ensuring excellent customer service.
- Motivate, encourage, and challenge store cashiers in a positive direction
- Grow each employee in manner of customer service, working knowledge of a convenience store, and pride of ownership
- Promote and resolve customer complaints in a timely and professional manner
- Implement and enforce established daily operating procedures to ensure store is clean, adequately stocked, organized, and well maintained
- Ensure all merchandise is stocked and displays are attractive, priced correctly, and displayed in a safe manner
- Maintain quality image standards inside and outside the location
- Supervise and discipline all store employees according to company policy and procedure
- Maintain organizational skills and multi-task on different projects
- Monitor daily retail gasoline competitors and convey the prices to the general manager
- Complete daily paperwork and computer entry in a timely manner as established by management
- Monitor cash over/short, inventory shrinkage, and drive offs daily
- Conduct store meetings with employees as needed. (A minimum of once a month)
- Perform all duties of a store cashier regularly
- Have the knowledge to prepare all deli foods (Depends upon offerings per location)
- Understand all information in the daily reporting of store operations
- Follow and enforce all Company Policies and Procedures in the store operations
- Implement Monthly promotions, ensure all POS advertising/signage is properly posted at the proper time
- Maintain proper retail margins in retail items, food service, carwashes, propane, and other services offered by location
- Communicate and perform all price change request, mark downs/ups as requested by General Manager
- Implement and enforce all merchandising and vendor policies and procedures
- Report and process all employee and/or customer incidents or accidents following company procedure
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Wear the proper Farmers Co-op Oil Company uniform
- Clean the parking lot and grounds surrounding the convenience store
- Willingness to attend company functions and meetings
- Perform other duties assigned by District Manager
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prefer two years of experience in the industry
- Ability to understand and follow instructions
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be willing to work inside and outside in all kinds of weather
- Ability to bend, stoop, twist, and move freely in the performance of the position
- Ability to work in a cooler at temperature of 34 degrees up to 30 minutes at a time, freezer at 0 degrees up to 20 minutes at a time
BENEFITS
- The position will be based upon a salary range of $34,000 to $40,000 per year to start depending upon experience.
