Join Lafayette Central Park, Inc./Moncus Park, a nonprofit organization dedicated to designing, building, and maintaining a vibrant community park in Lafayette. The Park Ranger is a dynamic new role charged with managing our park services team to help Create a Healthy Organization as well as task management to Ensure a Clean, Safe, and Welcoming Space.
INFORMS/CONSULTS: Park Operations Team
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Park Service Attendants
SCHEDULE: Rotating Shift | Weekends| Holidays
*Responsible for creating their own monthly shift that includes 75% to 80% of weekends worked. Non-Traditional Schedule. Schedule should be created to best meet the dynamic needs of the park.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
PEOPLE & TASK MANAGEMENT
- Provide on the ground support and direction to all park services attendants, helping to delegate work tasks and ensure the flow of activity meets evolving park needs.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to Park Services Attendants, while providing growth opportunities through performance management practices.
- Effectively delegate park maintenance activities like parking and facilities maintenance responsibilities while monitoring daily progress toward completion.
- Serve as the communication bridge between park attendants on the ground and middle management, communicating staffing changes and challenges, while troubleshooting to resolve roadblocks.
- Communication Liasson between Park Services Team and Events and Programming Operations Team, coordinating staffing needs and making resources available for all park programming and events.
- Survey work task volume and make recommendations toward staffing needs.
- Navigate company software system to adequately perform routine scheduling tasks.
- Facilitate routine training and development meetings to allow for comradery, and direction.
HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT
- Demonstrate the ability to anticipate visitors' needs by providing information and assistance to park guests, taking care of essential needs with a pleasant and professional demeanor.
- Communicate effectively with many park stakeholders and guests to inform visitors of the history and purpose of the land and the work that goes into preservation initiatives.
- Lead the onsite hospitality and coordination aspects of all park tours.
- Maintain an overall awareness of park needs to effectively manage and coordinate volunteer activity.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure smooth operations and a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors.
MAINTENANCE AND SAFETY
- Provide parking assistance and equipment troubleshooting as needed, serving as the point person to provide outsourced expertise and knowledge regarding park operational issues that cannot be solved internally.
- Maintain working knowledge of facility operations, and power equipment such as riding lawnmowers, weed eaters, power tools, and hand tools required.
- Manage general maintenance and clean up duties at the park which include, but are not limited to, the emptying of trash receptacles, sweeping, mopping, wiping down fixtures, water fountains, replenishing toilet paper and hand towels, and cleaning playground area, restrooms, and sidewalks.
- Be an active participant in the design and implementation of regular safety training, and general training of park protocols, and best practices.
- Interface with law enforcement and security concerning park safety matters and respond to emergencies promptly, according to protocol.
- Monitor Park activity and regularly patrol park zones, seeking opportunities to gently inform and educate park guests of facility rules and regulations.
- Promptly report complaints and/or incidents involving the public to appropriate public safety personnel.
- Handle cash transactions and ensure accurate cash handling procedures.
Required/Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ Years Supervisory Experience
- Experience Working in Outdoor Environment
- Prior Software Scheduling Experience
- Microsoft Application Familiarity
- OSHA 10 Certification (preferred)
- First Aid /CPR Training and Certification
- Conservation Knowledge and Interpretation of Natural Resources
- Skill in Law Enforcement, Management, and Customer Service
- General Knowledge of Varias Technical Applications (Plumbing, Irrigation, Electrical, etc..)
