We are seeking a skilled Drafter to join our team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in various design software and have experience in mechanical and civil drafting.
JOB TITLE
DESIGN DRAFTER
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Design Drafter is an operations professional who participates in the engineering, design, drafting and B.O.M.'s required for the manufacturing of custom truck bodies, trailers and enclosures.
SCOPE
The Design Drafter reports to the Engineering Manager and is responsible for the design process of each product developed including sourcing, design and drafting and creation of Bill of Materials to ensure customer demands and the company goals and objectives are met or exceeded.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares and manages conceptual CAD drawings for Sales Department
Prepares and manages Production working drawing using AutoCAD or Inventor software.
Oversees proper documentation of B.O.M. using Job Boss software
Oversees ECO's and ensures all files are properly documented with latest revisions
Plans development of products to ensure customer specifications are satisfied
Analyzes each project/job design requirements m order to determine processes required in order to design product within company capabilities and level of expertise.
Plans sequence of drafting/design to conform to manufacturing sequences.
Analyzes and interprets Order Acknowledgements, Scopes, Specifications, Drawings and sketches to determine content with which to plan manageable work elements.
Interfaces with Scheduling/Planning, Procurement, Sales and Production in order to best meet customer demands and company goals.
Interfaces with customers and vendors as needed to satisfy design requirements Stays current with product trends and related materials and components
Stays current with US DOT regulations which pertain to trailers and trucks Stays current with US electrical codes applicable to trailers and trucks
Sources alternative materials, components and processes to improve product quality Performs other related duties as required.
Contributes to scoping and development of new or potential projects.
KNOWLEDGE
The incumbent must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:
Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in mechanical design Knowledge of custom metal fabrication and related manufacturing processes Knowledge of basic trailer and truck body construction and design a plus

EDUCATION
The incumbent should possess a minimum of a two-year degree within Design & Drafting or equivalent professional experience within the industry. Professional training using a variety CAD programs a plus. Training in manufacturing processes, and experience using metal fabrication equipment a bonus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The Design Drafter will spend long hours sitting and using a computer which can cause muscle strain. The Design Drafter will also be required to climb into and out of Projects on the shop floor using stairs and ladders.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
The incumbent is located in a busy office area and will be faced with constant interruptions and must meet with others on a regular basis. The incumbent will also be required to spend significant time on the shop floor which will require proper personal protective equipment as he will be exposed to high levels of noise and personal hazards.
SENSORY DEMANDS
The incumbent must spend significant time in concentration. The incumbent must also spend significant time on the computer entering information and data which requires attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
MENTAL DEMANDS
There are a number of deadlines associated with this position which will cause significant stress. The incumbent must also deal with a wide variety of people on various issues from different departments. In addition, the incumbent must deal with suppliers and customers in an effort to resolve issues related to quality and product concerns.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour
