JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
APA is currently expanding and is looking for motivated individuals to come on board as public adjusters. The PA is a professional claims handler who advocates for the policyholder in appraising and negotiating a claimant's insurance claim throughout the claim process.
A successful public adjuster is intelligent, articulate, a skillful writer, self-driven, career-minded, organized, analytical, determined, curious, and people-oriented.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following is a summary of the essential functions. Other duties may be performed, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.
- On lead office days, work with the Client Success Team regarding leads.
- On lead inspection days, inspecting properties and signing leads where this fit is determined correct.
- Reviewing insurance policies fully to determine applicability to client loss.
- For assigned claims, the PA will be responsible for inspecting, measuring, presenting, and advocating a claim from beginning to end.
- Effective and efficient utilization of all claims related management/ support systems and tools.
- Effective and efficient utilization of support team, legal, loss measurements, and leadership where needed to resolve claims at maximum value for our clients.
- Proper documentation of claim files pursuant to APA’s standard.
- Manage a caseload of open claim files from inception through conclusion.
- Be a good team member, help others where needed.
Other:
- Maintain APA’s high-level service standards, reporting procedures, and statutory compliance.
- Keeping clients updated and management of their expectations.
- Establish on-going relationships with APA’s valued clients to create new leads and business opportunities.
- Working with APA's legal department, make sure all licenses and certificates are up to date.
- Maintain a regular course of self-improvement to satisfy licensing, continued education requirements, and increase professional internal “APA” and industry related knowledge.
QUALIFICATIONS / COMPETENCIES:
The requirements listed below are representative of the characteristics, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities that the ideal applicant will possess:
- Open and eager to learn new things.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Goal oriented and comfortable working with metrics.
- An overall understanding of the insurance claim process from start to finish.
- Knowledge of property/ home construction and restoration practices.
- The ability to create a restoration estimate within Xactimate.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to eloquently present technical matters in simple terms for non-technical individuals.
- Have a minimum of 4 years of experience in property/casualty claims adjusting.
and/or,
- Have a minimum of 4 years of experience in creating Xactimate restoration estimates for a vendor/ general contractor.
- Bachelor’s degree or in-lieu of degree equivalent education, training, and work-related experience.

Pay: $112,500.00 - $250,000.00 per year
