Description:
At Nevada Heart and Vascular Center (NHVC) the Cardiovascular Technician (CVT), under the direction of the Nurse Manager, and clinic physicians is primarily tasked with ensuring the safe delivery of non-invasive cardiac testing and monitoring. In this clinical role, the CVT will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and performing diagnostic testing of the cardiovascular system to aid in the discovery and treatment of heart and blood vessel disorders.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) certification and training from an accredited institution.
o May be EMT based on experience and resources available.
- Current BLS and ACLS CPR certification from the American Heart Association
- General computer skills with working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and email applications.
- Detail-oriented with good analytical and organizational skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cohesively within a team environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with patients, staff, physicians, and all levels of management.
Preferred qualifications, but not required:
o Previous experience in a clinical / medical setting.
o Previous cardiovascular experience.
o Medical terminology experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

- Must be able to travel to various locations if needed and have reliable transportation.

Must be able to arrive at scheduled shift/ location fifteen minutes prior to clinic start, unless approved by management.

Verify patient identity using two unique identifiers.

Educate and explain procedure to be performed to the patient. Answer questions as they may arise.

Room patients, ask pre-screening questions, obtain vital signs and document on appropriate form while maintaining a courteous and professional demeanor.

Start an intravenous (IV) line on patients if required.

Safely position the patient on the exam table or treadmill as testing type dictates.

Perform a regular treadmill stress test, a Cardiolyte treadmill stress test, Lexiscan, or echo treadmill stress test as determined by physician order and patient need.

Ensure the safety and monitoring of all patients before, during and after testing has completed.

Notify the NHVC physician immediately of abnormal patient response or results of any tests performed.

Posses a strong knowledge of diagnostic cardiac procedures.

Report any equipment malfunctions, accidents or incidents as they occur.

Accurately review, analyze and update patient medical records.

Ability to use diagnostic medical equipment after receiving proper training.

Maintain supply management, stocking and organizing.
-
Ensure sanitary standards in clinic rooms between patient visits.

Attend staff and other meetings and training courses as needed.

Willingness to complete other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
-
CVT is required to have visual and auditory acuity necessary for communication with other employees, physicians, and patients to meet the business needs of NHVC.

Medical Assistant I must be able to see written documentation and be able to speak and hear for communication with employees, physicians, and patients.

Ability to use a wide array of office equipment including, but not limited to a PC, copier, fax machine, and multi-line telephone.

Occasional lifting of heavy or awkward items, walking, bending and stretching in a clinical office setting.
