General Education Science Courses:
Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology I & II
AMG School of Nursing seeks an energetic and enthusiastic faculty member to teach general education science courses in our Nursing program. This is a part-time, professional position reporting directly to the Dean of Nursing.
Course content covers the fundamental concepts and principles of microbiology and anatomy and physiology .
The laboratory courses have been designed to be taken concurrently with and to supplement the subject matter covered in the lectures. Both courses together constitute a single course.
Requirements:
Candidates must show evidence of the following:
· A minimum of an acceptable master’s degree in the specific subject matter field (foreign MD graduates may apply).
· Experience teaching similar courses at a higher education institute.
· Facilitate student mastery of core learning outcomes using the most relevant pedagogical and scholarly tools available.
· Contribute to the development, planning and implementation of a high-quality curriculum.
· Actively engage students in critical thinking, and advancement of critical communication skills.
· Model and cultivate open-minded inquiry, an appreciation for diverse perspectives, and creative problem-solving.
· Serve on committees and participate in departmental meetings.
· Maintain currency in academic discipline and pedagogy by actively participating in professional organizations and by engaging in other professional development opportunities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience with leadership at a higher education institution is a plus. Demonstrated teaching ability is the top priority. Instructional experience and leadership experience at a college is a priority. Ability to use technology for instruction. Knowledge of good laboratory procedures and governmental safety regulations regarding lab safety is desirable.
