Ahava Early Learning Center now Hiring Part-time Kitchen Assistant

Currently seeking a part-time kitchen assistant to cook and serve nutritious kosher vegetarian food for our pre-school, infant, and toddler classes. Competitive pay and benefits available.
General Position Description:
This position as part-time food service and kitchen support assists the Culinary Program Manager in accomplishing the duties and responsibilities of running a clean, safe, well-stocked kitchen providing healthy snacks and meals to young children on a timely and consistent schedule. Another less defined yet important aspect of this position is to support the program goal to build experiences for children to learn more about how food is grown and prepared.
In this position you will report to the Culinary Program Manager for daily operations duties and to the Director for other aspects related to your employment.
Key Responsibilities:
· Maintain hygiene and safety in the kitchen in accordance with state licensing requirements.
· Maintain the integrity of the Kashrut laws and practices in the Dairy Kitchen and in the school.
· Assist in making sure all foods purchased for children’s consumption meet the guidelines for healthy and balanced meals, nutritional content, and expiration dates.
· Assist with cooking.
· Assist with food preparation and delivery to classrooms.
· Assist with shopping, truck deliveries, and Instacart deliveries, restocking the food supply following guidelines for FIFO.
· Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly workspace.
· Become familiar with all school policies as well as all kitchen cleaning and sanitation policies and follow them accordingly.
· Assist in identifying areas of growth for professional development as needed.
· Wash dishes.
· Restock supplies.
· Possess a working knowledge of appropriate substitutions for children who have identified food allergies.
· Build working relationships with the faculty and staff of Ahava and AA synagogue.
· Support food-based experiences around Jewish holidays.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required
· Must clear a State of Georgia Criminal Background Check
· Possess 2-3 years of professional experience in food service; preferably in an institutional setting.
· Possess basic math skills for portioning and measuring.
Physical Requirements:
· Lift 50 lbs.
· Stand for long periods of time.
· Possess flexibility of movement as the position requires.
· Take training courses as necessary to renew skills or certification.

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
