We are looking for top-tier Senior Payroll Tax Specialist, who is responsible for all activities as related to tax implications of payroll via 3rd party payroll provider. You will work closely with HR and Business Partners in the U.S. plus other key stakeholders to ensure the smooth execution of Payroll – primarily for US/Canada and if needed for various other countries as applicable.
THIS IS A CONTRACT - CONSULTING POSITION.
CORE/KEY ACTIVITIES:
- Manage the preparation, review, and timely filing of payroll tax activities, consistently ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Support coordination, planning and scheduling of new and existing tax projects; serve as a subject matter expert and communicate status, define, and track milestones by developing project plans, along with effective collaboration with all affected areas of the organization.
- Manage small team 1-2 people.
- Balancing the deposits and filing of local, state, and federal payroll tax returns, including annual filings.
- Assist with W-2 processing, including quarter-end and year-end adjustments and amendments.
- Coordination and management of tax audits; including compiling necessary information upon initiation of audit and maintaining Power of Attorney, third-party access where necessary.
- Manage cross border employee tracking, completing appropriate government forms and working with our external consultants who file our employee tax returns.
- Perform tax research for transactional tax matters; notices received from local, state, and federal government tax authorities, third party vendors, and internal customers.
- Maintain active communication of tax results and issues including maintaining an issues log and refunds due the company.
- Play a lead role in the testing and implementation of patches and upgrades for all employment tax related systems.
- Assist with continuous process improvements and integration of various aspects of the tax function to achieve optimal efficiency, effective controls, and quality.
- Develop and maintain relationships with the Finance team to increase understanding of the business and keep current with other changes/activities that may affect tax.
- Identify and solve root causes of discrepancies in payroll and tax related matters.
- Coordinates correctness of reporting for expats done by external vendor

- Experience with ALIGHT or ADP and knowledge of Payroll Reporting and related HRIS systems preferred
- Proficient (intermediate level) in Excel, Word, with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook
- Must maintain a high degree of confidentiality
- Strong attention to detail
- Self-starter with proven time management skills and ability to prioritize in a high-volume position
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic accounting principles (e.g., debits/credits) as they relate to payroll
- Willingness to flex hours as needed, based on volume of work throughout the week
- Experience working within a matrix organization or consultancy firm
- Superior communications skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Products such as PowerPoint, Visio, and Excel (Advanced Excel skills - VLOOKUP's and simple formulas)
