Job Summary:
Energy Recovery Inc. is seeking a qualified candidate for an immediate full-time job opening for the position of Test Engineer, reporting to the Director of System Design and Reliability within the R&D department in San Leandro, CA facility. The R&D department is a dynamic group of engineers and technicians with a wide range of backgrounds. We are looking for talented and energetic candidates who thrive in a team environment. The candidate will work in multidisciplinary teams on clean-sheet designs to develop disruptive technologies based on proprietary isobaric pressure exchanges. This position’s responsibilities are developing and executing tests for novel applications or improvements to existing technologies, and upgrading and maintaining our in-house test loops.
- The R&D test engineer will support engineering studies and design verification activities
- Test pressure exchangers to be used in CO2 based refrigeration

Perform studies of pressure exchangers used in reverse osmosis desalination

Lead testing of pressure exchangers deployed in industrial wastewater applications

Designing, building, and validating new test rigs and flow loops to perform experimental research and development on turbomachinery equipment, including instrumentation, data acquisition, post-processing, generating insights, and reporting to management

Work with production and sourcing to make sure testing is done on time and within project budgets

All other projects and duties as assigned

B.S. Degree, preferably Mechanical Engineering or similar fields

Experience with Matlab, Python, or similar software to do data analysis

Familiarity with LabVIEW (Core 1 or equivalency preferred)

Experience with test instrumentation (Pressure & Temperature Transducer, Flow Meter, Proximity Probe, Accelerometer)

Data acquisition systems and hardware, NI Compact DAQ (cDAQ), NI Compact RIO (cRIO), NI MAX

Familiarity with pump and turbine mechanical/hydraulic design, highly preferred

Demonstrated skills utilizing CAD modeling (Solidworks) for design, generating drawings/layouts, as well as GD&T.

Must possess a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, under pressure and with tight deadlines, manage multiple tasks, and be goal-oriented

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Position requires up to 20% domestic & international travel
The below range is the range that we reasonably believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California. This range may be modified in the future. The salary range for this role is $100,000 to $110,000
