Summary
BlueSkye Automation is a systems integrator that provides turnkey material handling and intralogistics automation solutions. The Automation Systems Engineer will be responsible for supporting the development, testing and rollout of new solutions and solutions from our OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) partners. The Automation Systems Engineer will also be responsible for supporting the BlueSkye solutions located in the Atlanta Innovation Center.
Essential Functions

Technical evaluation of automation solutions from potential OEM partners.

Testing and validation of potential new automation solutions including hardware and software.

Development of new and complementary solutions such as middleware, API integrations, HMI, and SCADA systems.

Work with applications engineering to test feasibility of existing solutions to fit customer specific applications (for example moving customer racks, etc.).

Support factory acceptance testing of solutions & systems prior to installation at customer sites.

Develop documentation and training materials for solutions within the BlueSkye portfolio.

Maintain the solutions in the BlueSkye demonstration area at the Atlanta Innovation Center and support customer visits & events with the sales team.

Work with BlueSkye engineering team and partner technical teams to identify and solve problems.

Create and document test plans and results.

Communicate regular status and results of ongoing projects.

Provide input to engineering, operations and product management team for maintenance and creation of BlueSkye solution roadmap.

Work with sales & product management to maintain, deploy, and improve the BlueSkye solutions and customer experience at the Atlanta Innovation Center.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Robotics or Engineering

Preferred: Degree in Computer Science & Robotics Engineering

Required: Applicant should have 1-3 years’ experience in robotics & similar applications
-
Applicant should have experience with intralogistics & material handling robotics and automation technologies, for example autonomous mobile robots (AMR), automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS), conveyors, sortation, co-bots, etc.

Proven ability to drive assigned projects from concept through completion with minimal guidance.
-
Willing to travel up to 30% as necessary.

Certifications/Licenses/Registrations
Driving is an essential function of this position, and a current and valid driver’s license must be always maintained.
Computer Skills

Advanced Microsoft Office skills (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, etc.).

Programing in common computing programming languages (Python, C/C++, JavaScript)

Familiarity with Linux and virtualization technologies (RedHat, Ubuntu, VMware, Docker)

Familiarity with IoT protocols and approaches (HTTP/S, MQTT, AMQP, WebSocket, TCP/IP)

Familiarity with machine control protocols and approaches (OPC/UA, Modbus, EtherCat, IOLink, RS232, etc.)

Intermediate understanding of electronic circuits, chassis wiring and industrial control systems.

Intermediate skills with team productivity tools (SharePoint, Monday.com, Smartsheet, etc.).
