The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) Tunnels, Bridges & Terminals Department’s Revenue Collection Group is responsible for collecting all revenues owed to The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for vehicular travel across our bridges and tunnels, through various tolls, fees and penalties. This group supports PANYNJ’s financial policy and service performance standards for the E-ZPass Customer Service Center. To help facilitate these efforts the Tunnels, Bridges & Terminals Department’s Revenue Collection Group is seeking a Violations Business Analyst to assist with various aspects of violations processing which may include payments processing, account maintenance and collections. These tasks require a business analyst who has both technical and analytical experience to retrieve data, conduct analysis, observe and assess trends, and make recommendations on how to handle various violations issues.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Supervisor of the Revenue Control Systems for E-ZPass Operations, the selected candidate will support the toll collection program with specific responsibilities for assisting in toll violations recovery and the New York State Department of Motor Vehicle (NY DMV) vehicle suspension program. The selected candidate will aid in real-time pursuit of violators through the following activities:
- Compile evidence to escalate violations to collection agencies
- Compile supporting documentation for vehicle suspension of persistent violators through the NY DMV registration suspension program
- Conduct research of violation accounts using Vector and Crystal reporting systems
- Run queries, conduct research and analyses, and communicate findings with contractors, and various levels of staff throughout the Agency
- Assist with customer credit disputes and resolution process by gathering back-up information
- Make appropriate modifications to documents based upon feedback
- Track and monitor approvals for reporting purposes
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:
- Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 2 years’ relevant work experience in data management, accounting, and/or customer service with quantitative and analytical skills – recent graduates with demonstrated expertise will also be considered
Desired
Ideal candidates will present the following profile:
- Intermediate to expert proficiency in MS Excel and/or MS Access is desired
- Experience with account management and payments processing is desired but not necessary
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- PC proficiency with experience in Microsoft Office applications
- Strong research, analytical and organization skills
- Ability to gather data, perform process analysis, and provide recommendations
- Strong organizational, verbal, presentation, and written skills
- Strong time-management skills and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Demonstrated productivity in a team environment
- Process-orientation with a strong bias for action
- Knowledge of toll systems and/or back office operations is a plus
Compensation & Benefits

Salary range estimate: $48,000 to $55,000
