Duties and Responsibilities
- Continuously monitor vital signs and observe patients for any changes in their condition. React promptly to any deterioration and coordinate interventions.
- Administer life-saving treatments and interventions, such as CPR, wound care, and administration of emergency medications.
- Coordination with Multidisciplinary Team: Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Advocate for the needs of patients and ensure that they receive appropriate care and support. Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing information and addressing concerns.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and responses. This is crucial for continuity of care and legal purposes.
- Operate and maintain specialized equipment used in the ED, such as cardiac monitors, defibrillators, and ventilators.
- Adhere to strict infection control protocols to prevent the spread of infections within the ED.
- Administer medications, including emergency drugs, and ensure accurate dosage and timing. Monitor patients for potential side effects.
- Provide trauma care for patients involved in accidents or experiencing severe injuries. This may involve stabilizing fractures, controlling bleeding, and preparing patients for surgery.
- Participate in disaster drills and be prepared to respond effectively to mass casualties and emergencies.
Requirements
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited academic institution. (preferred)
Experience
- 2+ years of Emergency Department required
- Previous travel experience in a fast-paced Emergency Department setting (preferred)
- Experience
Licenses
- Nevada Registered Nurse (RN) license (will accept travelers without NV License)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for providers issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- National Institue of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification or must be completed within 6 months of hire
