POSITION SUMMARY:
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the timely and accurate processing and maintenance of two staff and one student payrolls with a high degree of confidentiality. This position reports to the Director of Human Resources.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Experience, Training:
A minimum of an Associate’s degree is required. Working knowledge of payroll practices and labor and compliance guidelines is preferred. Preference is given to individuals with a Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field and/or payroll experience.
At the College’s discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be excepted when the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the College, an equivalent combination of education and experience to prepare the candidate for success in the position.

- Professional positive attitude; strong work ethic;
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and time-sensitive deadlines;
- Advanced computer skills in MS Office.
Physical Requirements:
Sedentary position – negligible force or ability to lift, carry, push or pull no more than 25 lbs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Process monthly and bi-weekly payrolls accurately and efficiently using the College’s payroll system.
- Assist with managing the online timekeeping system.
- Facilitate and improve onboarding of new part-time employees and student new hire appointments.
- Process payroll and HR paperwork for all employees, such as Form I-9s, tax forms, direct deposits, parking forms, and ID administration.
- Complete data entry for all employee terminations, changes, and benefits administration in the payroll system.
- Manage all vacation/sick logs to ensure compliance to the College policies relating to wages, PTO, sick, vacation, and bereavement leave.
- Distribute physical and electronic payroll checks and pay stubs to employees, students, and departments.
- Assist with maintaining control of payroll and personnel files with strict confidentiality.
- Provide customer service to all employees and students concerned with payroll and benefits, research, and troubleshoot all inquiries.
- Respond to child support inquiries/orders and payroll garnishments.
- Complete employment verifications.
- Maintain Organizational Charts.
- Deliver and pick-up mail for HR, Finance, and the President’s Office.
- Maintain office supplies for Operations and HR
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Process all PO requests for Executive Vice President/C.F.O.
- Create all check requests for Executive Vice President/C.F.O.
- Manage credit cards for Executive Vice President/C.F.O. and Finance Office.
- Provide additional support, such as reports to the Finance team

Responsible for own work with no direct reports
