We are looking for positive, energetic people who enjoy working as part of a team. The YMCA is hiring part-time Early Learning Program Teachers for our child care programs located in Downtown Sacramento. Make a difference. Join our team.
Responsibilities for this position:
Teachers work closely with the Site Director to ensure the proper supervision of children and are responsible for planning and implementing recreational activities, homework assistance, snack, and enrichment opportunities that support children’s social and emotional learning.
Qualifications:
- Meets educational and experience qualifications established by state law if the state sets requirements. (The YMCA should establish minimum qualification standards if the state has no requirements)
- At least 18 years of age (The age minimum may be higher depending on state law)
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date
- Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
- Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities
- Previous experience with diverse populations
- Available from 7-6 pm Monday - Friday (hours vary)
- Must pass Dept. of Justice and FBI fingerprint clearance
- Health Screening, TB test,
- Early Childhood programs: 12 or more college quarter credits in early childhood/child development, or possesses an equivalent educational background, or is a certified child development associate (preferred).
- Experience in working with children the same age as those to be supervised.
- One year of experience or more in program planning preferred
- Knowledge of culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Infant and Toddler Units Required unless currently enrolled in the class.
