Middle School Science Teacher
The Bridges Academy in West Islip, New York seeks a full time Science teacher to work with children in grades 6-8 for the 2024-2025 school year. A successful candidate will be able to teach general science (grade 6 and 7 with a focus on Biology in 7th) and prepare students for the New York State Regents in Earth Science (8th grade) in addition to being well-versed in curriculum development and Science instruction in a Middle School setting. They should also enjoy working in a collaborative, growth minded, family oriented community. Undergraduate degree in Science or related field with 3-5 years of demonstrable experience in a classroom setting are preferred.
In addition to teaching Middle School Science, a successful candidate will also have experience and a strong interest in improving our all-school Greenhouse program.
Qualifications: all applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education/Science or a related field of study. A Master’s degree is preferred. S/he will have at least 3 years of successful teaching. Additionally, s/he should be able to understand and support Bridges’s vision, mission and values, understanding the unique nature of a small independent school environment.
