We are seeking a skilled Survey Crew Chief to join our team in Lake Mary, Florida. Our Survey/Geospatial team offers a full range of survey and geospatial data and mapping services that enable CTS Engineering, Inc. to collect data faster, safer, and more accurately than ever before. The Crew Chief will oversee and coordinate the daily activities of a team of workers, ensuring projects are completed efficiently and according to specifications. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as proficiency in surveying techniques and equipment operation.
Responsibilities:
- This position may involve leading a crew of two or more individuals, overseeing their work and ensuring project objectives are met efficiently.
- Assign tasks and ensure all team members understand their responsibilities.
- Monitor progress and performance to meet project deadlines.
- Train new crew members on job duties and safety procedures.
- Survey projects include the Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT") design and ROW, topographic, aerial, and mobile lidar ground control, and boundary surveys, overseen by the Survey Crew Chief to ensure accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
- Communicate with project managers to provide updates on progress and any issues that arise.
- Maintain and inspect company vehicles and survey equipment to ensure they are in optimal working condition for survey operations.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED is required.
- Eight years of field survey experience, including a minimum of three years as a Crew Chief, or equivalent expertise.
- FDOT project experience preferred.
- Must have proficiency in operating Leica data collectors and robotic instruments, as well as in data collection techniques, conventional field note-keeping, and leveling.
- Experience with or capability to acquire proficiency in the use of Leica 3D scanners and Mobile LiDAR.
- Must be a self-starter capable of working independently with minimal supervision once given a work assignment.
- Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions and willing to travel as required.
- A valid driver's license and clean driving record are required.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend English for understanding written job-related communications, verbal instructions, and interactions.
