Summary: Eden Estates International seeks a highly skilled and experienced Senior Development Grant & Contract Writer to spearhead our fundraising efforts, particularly for projects supporting homeless veterans and civilians. This role is crucial for securing funding through meticulously crafted grant proposals and contract bids, targeting a minimum success rate of 85% in grant approvals. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in both grant writing and federal contract proposal responses, with a significant and verifiable track record of securing funds.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Grant and Contract Proposal Development: Lead the creation of grant proposals and contract bids that align with EEI’s mission and funding needs. Craft compelling narratives, develop budgets, and prepare persuasive materials that meet the criteria and expectations of potential funders.
- Strategic Funding Research: Conduct thorough research to identify and evaluate potential funding sources including governmental agencies, foundations, and corporations. Develop a strategic approach for targeting these sources based on alignment with EEI's strategic goals and mission.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with internal and external stakeholders including EEI’s leadership, program directors, finance team, funders, and community partners to ensure proposals are comprehensive and aligned with strategic objectives. Build and maintain relationships that enhance EEI's reputation and funding opportunities.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor the performance of funded projects and prepare detailed reports for donors and EEI leadership to demonstrate impact and compliance with grant conditions. Manage a grant tracking system to ensure timely submission of reports and renewal of funding.
- Editing and Proofreading: Ensure all written materials are clear, grammatically correct, and comply with EEI’s style guide. Proofread and edit proposals and reports to enhance their quality and effectiveness.
- Team Leadership and Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior writers and other staff involved in fundraising efforts. Lead by example in developing high-quality written materials and strategic funding approaches.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field is required; a graduate degree in one of these fields is strongly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of five years of professional writing and editing experience, with at least three years focused on development communications, grant writing, and federal contract proposals. Demonstrable success in securing significant funding through grants and contracts.
- Skills:
- Expert-level writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Strong analytical skills for effective research and strategy development.
- Excellent project management skills, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- Proficient in using digital tools for document management, research, and communication.
- Personal Attributes: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team.
