Title: Material Handler/Production Assistant FLSA Status: Hourly/Non-Exempt
Reports To: Plant Manager Employment Status: Full-Time
JOB SUMMARY:
- The Material Handler/Production Assistant manages products and materials in the warehouse and operates equipment in the plant to assist in the production of AAC.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Working safely is the highest priority.
- Load and unload trucks.
- Move product from production line to warehouse.
- Ensure AAC product is palletized to the orders.
- Perform PM’s (preventive maintenance) and Operator Care PM’s (preventive maintenance) daily when not in production.
- Operate the mold opener/closer.
- Clean and oil molds.
- Operate Loading Machine
- Prepare and install the steel cages for AAC panels.
- Complete the daily cleaning standard on assigned equipment and production areas.
- Assist Sr. Electrician and Sr. Mechanic on equipment repairs and upgrades as needed.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Position requires willingness to become certified in operation of forklifts, overhead cranes, and yard-trucks to transport and locate equipment and materials to required areas.
- Be willing and able to cross-train on other jobs in the plant and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Good math and written communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Efficient time management skills.
EMPLOYEE SPECIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least two years of related experience required.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Must be able to communicate effectively
- Work in a safe manner, is ethical, and proactive
- Understanding of shipping methods and processes
- Comply with 5S program
- Comply with all work instructions
- Ability to stand, kneel, stoop, reach and bend in a production environment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Wear a respirator when required. (Fit testing to be provided by company).
- Must wear safety gear, such as goggles and gloves, when handling box cutters or similar tools.
- Prolonged standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms, frequent lifting and/or moving up to 40 pounds, bending, crawling, climbing, and kneeling.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus. Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
- Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment, noise level is moderate.
- Work may involve lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds. Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, hardhats, gloves, aprons. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted. Exposure to chemicals and/or fumes probable.
