Darigold is recruiting for a proactive, skilled Fleet Manager to join the transportation team in Portland, OR. The Fleet Manager is responsible for customer and driver satisfaction within the assigned location while meeting company goals for Safety & Compliance, Customer Service, and annual objectives. The Fleet Manager requires excellent customer relations and communication skills. The Site Fleet Manager is responsible for but not limited to scheduling drivers, dispatching, administrative tasks such as payroll, PO issuance, scheduling equipment maintenance. The Fleet Manager will monitor driver performance ensuring company policies including state, federal and DOT laws and regulations are in compliance.
What you will do (other duties may be assigned):
- Provide leadership and supervision for the Fleet drivers and associated personnel. Effectively motivate, train, and communicate with their assigned teams to assure superior levels of safety, reliability, service, and quality. Ensure individual and team levels of performance meet or exceed goals and expectations.
- Focus on Safety, Service, Cost, Professionalism and Respect.
- Ensure that all loads are delivered on time.
- Investigate and resolve all complaints, questions, and problems.
- Enforce rules and apply policies fairly and consistently.
- Build a strong work relationship with employees and customers.
- Fleet Managers are the first point of contact for our professional drivers.
- Fleet Managers ensure our drivers have all the necessary tools to perform their job safely and on-time.
- Ensure all company safety policies are understood and enforced.
- Assist with safety training through safety bulletins and monthly tailgate meetings.
- Assist with Monthly IIPP Yard and Office Safety Checklists and report them to the Site Manager.
- Ensure that all Hours-of-Service regulations, DOT / State regulations, and company safety policies are adhered to.
- Ensure DOT Paper-logs and/or E-Logs are audited and correct.
- Ensure all assigned tractor and trailers are PM/BIT inspected with in timelines.
- Ensure that all assigned equipment is current on preventative maintenance.
- Report and record all collisions, injuries, and equipment damages on the safety register in a timely manner.
- Ensure all preventable damages are charged to the responsible party.
- Daily audit of all fuel purchases.
- Must be able to work variable hours and weekends for this 24/7/365 operation. The schedule is Sunday through Thursday, with responsibility to be on call during off shift hours as necessary.
What you will bring:
- An understanding of laws and requirements related to domestic and international distribution of food products as well as associated domestic D.O.T. and international export transportation requirements is essential.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills at all levels
- Must possess strong problem solving & project management skills
- Strong geographical knowledge
- Excellent organizational, attention to detail and time management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; to include Excel
What you will need:
- High school diploma or GED
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or other closely related field, preferred
- 1+ years of experience managing in/outbound logistics in the food & beverage and or transportation industry
- 1+ years of experience in fleet management and routing, including DOT and safety compliance.
- Experience using a Transportation Management System (TMS) or ability to adapt & learn new technology, OTM preferred

Compensation range: $80,000-98,151 (individual wage based on previous experience, knowledge, and skills)
