The Fleet and Facilities Commander is responsible for managing fleet personnel, daily operational tasks, and financial management of the Fleet Department at Albuquerque Ambulance. This role ensures optimal service delivery by coordinating, directing, and organizing all necessary activities. Additionally, the position oversees all facilities-related responsibilities, including groundskeeping, campus maintenance, maintaining licenses and certifications, and managing major improvement projects. The Fleet and Facilities Commander interacts daily with the Director of EMS Support Services to coordinate interdepartmental requirements and ensure consistent communication.

Qualifications:
- Associates in EMS, Business, Automotive technology or other related field, 3 years of additional experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.

2 years supervisory experience

2 years experience in automotive industry

Current valid New Mexico Driver's License

Microsoft Office skills, ability to utilize AAS computer programs.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise fleet personnel
-
Responsible for hiring, onboarding and continued training of Fleet personnel

Responsible for hiring, onboarding and continued training for Groundskeeper
-
Performs evaluations, coaching and corrective actions.

Coordinate daily work activities of fleet employees including monitoring workload and time management to ensure maximum efficiency of the department. Includes managing daily huddle.

Works with Director of EMS Support Services to prepare minor capital submission, medical equipment capital replacement requests and contingency capital.

Implement and maintain preventative & routine maintenance program to ensure all vehicles within the fleet meet regulatory and safety standards.

Establish and implement purchasing/inventory control for fleet equipment.

Assist in development & management of budget recommendations related to emergency vehicle usage, monthly maintenance expenses, vehicle replacement and other fleet related items to ensure maximum fiscal efficiency of department and ensure an appropriate depreciation schedule is maintained.

Maintains departmental reports, purchasing records and statistical data for operational, administrative and regulatory purposes. Includes maintaining productivity and expense reports.

Manage process of obtaining quotes, bids, contract negotiations, as well as implementation of contracts and product delivery for Fleet and facilities related items.

Coordinate with Operations Department to complete financial aspect of collision reports, obtain data regarding collisions and work with administrative staff to submit insurance claims and repairs.

Responsible for maintaining facilities requirements and needs including coordinating maintenance requests, maintaining licenses/certifications and managing major improvement projects.

Responsible for maintaining departmental communication regarding Fleet & Facilities issues

Maintains professional relationships with AAS, PHS and external personnel, customers and vendors.

Maintain working knowledge of current developments in the fleet industry through continuing education, participation in seminars/workshops and reviewing related literature.

Participate in weekly management meetings.

Other duties as assigned.
