About this Position
Deublin Company is seeking a Senior People and Culture Generalist to support the production (non-exempt) employees and managers in our Waukegan facility. This position provides consulting and support for human resources functions including organization development, talent management, employee relations and engagement, day-to-day HR operations, and other business or human resources initiatives.
Essential Responsibilities
Talent Management
- Partners with business leaders to identify critical talent needs and gaps within the organization, working with other HR colleagues to develop strategies to address.
- Advises managers on employee performance, development and compensation changes that creates and sustains high caliber talent.
- Consults with managers on recruiting initiatives and offers; assessing talent needs, recommending compensation and retention strategies.
- Analyzes internal and external metrics to assess organizational effectiveness and recommends changes to positively impact the business. Executes on initiatives to increase productivity, employee performance, and employee engagement and partners with other colleagues to design and implement programs to drive results.
Human Resources Operations
- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with training, continuing education, and work assessments.
- Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified applicants; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Benefits administration- works with benefits vendor on annual benefits changes and supported employee and new hires with benefits enrollment and general questions.
- Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary discussions, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Provides support for administration of human resource programs including: compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; and training and development.
Employee Relations
- Provides coaching to business leaders on employee relations issues.
- Effectively conducts investigations in timely fashion
- Conducts quarterly focus group sessions with employees to understand employee engagement and provides findings and recommendations to the department leader.
Trusted advisor
- Builds trust-based, collaborative relationships with managers and customer groups.
- Provides coaching to managers on employee performance and goal setting
- Partners with managers to maintain job descriptions and identify training requirements.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years progressive Generalist or related experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field required.
- Manufacturing or warehousing experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to build consultative, collaborative relationships with managers and co-workers at all levels.
- Experience driving in-house HR processes, protocols, and goals.
- Experience with HRMS/HRIS systems.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Employee relations experience, including experience with formal charges/litigation situations.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong analysis and decision-making skills
- Solid knowledge of employment laws and regulations governing HR programs.
- Demonstrated high-level of confidentiality and discretion.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
- 5-10% travel for training, company meetings.
