Landscape Construction Estimator
Job Purpose:
To perform all facets of project discovery, estimating, procurement and client relationship management to support the growth of the landscape construction division.
Overview:
The Landscape Construction Estimator is responsible for the estimating of assigned projects in a thorough, profitable, and timely manner. Manages the estimating work in manner consistent with standards of company quality and integrity. Establishes and maintains a professional working relationship with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers and fellow employees. Participate as requested in the marketing, estimating, bidding and contract negotiation phases of the projects assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Find bid opportunities through lead generating programs and client relationships.
- Gain an understanding of work to be performed through project analysis and quantity takeoffs.
- Prepare bid documents and ensure they are submitted in a timely manner.
- Attend pre bid and pre job walks as well as other meetings as necessary.
- Supports and adheres to the organizationally consistent policies, procedures and guidelines as applicable to this position.
- Consistently anticipates and meets or exceeds the expectations of internal and/or external customers.
- Supports company efforts to obtain new work by remaining alert to business opportunities and sharing information with appropriate company personnel.
- Participates in activities to support the company's strategic planning efforts and/or improve specific business or construction processes.
- Supports the company's efforts to become a learning organization by teaching, coaching and mentoring others.
- Reviews estimates with field personnel with attention to: Adherence to cost control system, Equipment requirements and utilization, Constructability, Formwork, materials, and manpower.
- Manages the orderly, timely transition of projects from the estimating to the field. This transition shall include project review meetings: review of contract requirements, general conditions, schedules, budgets, subcontracts and purchase order agreements.
- Reviews and manages the procurement schedule.
- May manage the execution of purchase order agreements and subcontracts with respect to insurance certificates, bonds, and the appropriate lien waivers.
- Receives feedback from estimators for use in future bidding or negotiations.
Qualifications:
- Estimating experience
- Experience in landscape construction projects
- Knowledge in office programs including word, excel and estimating software.'
