DATA SCIENTIST – MANUFACTURING ANALYTICS
Role Summary
As a Data Scientist specializing in Manufacturing Analytics, the primary goal is to harness data-driven insights to elevate our manufacturing processes. Responsibilities include leveraging data analytics and machine learning techniques, fostering cross-functional collaborations, architecting robust data pipelines, supporting our implementation of Plant Web Optics Data Lake (PWODL), and empowering manufacturing stakeholders with actionable insights. Through these efforts, you will drive efficiency, enable automation, enhance product quality, and foster a culture of continuous improvement throughout our manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and IT teams to identify opportunities for leveraging data analytics to improve processes, drive efficiencies, and enable automation in our plants.
- Develop predictive analytics models to forecast manufacturing outcomes, optimize production schedules, and minimize downtime.
- Utilize Plant Web Optics Data Lake to aggregate, process, and analyze large volumes of structured and unstructured data from various sources.
- Explore and utilize the potential of advanced AI techniques, including generative AI to support optimization of manufacturing processes and enhance product quality.
- Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders through clear and concise reports, presentations, and visualizations.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in data science, machine learning, and manufacturing technologies.
Competencies
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field; Master's or Ph.D. preferred.
- Proven experience (5 years) working as a Data Scientist, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Ability to work on a hybrid work schedule, in office or plant 3 days a week.
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, as well as experience with data manipulation and analysis libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, SciPy).
- Hands-on experience with machine learning techniques such as regression, classification, clustering, etc.
- Experience with Plant Web Optics Data Lake is strongly preferred
- Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Experience working with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) is preferred.
- Proficiency or exposure to other development languages such as Lua, Java, or C++.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
