Dentons US LLP is recruiting for a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst (Finance) to be resident in our Chicago office. The ideal candidate will have experience and drive to elevate standards of Business Intelligence, reporting, data mining, and data analytics. This individual will have the opportunity to transform Firm data into valuable insights that will aid management in making better strategic and business decisions.
This position enables the candidate to develop processes, practices, and technologies that will positively impact reporting, analysis, planning, data quality, and operational efficiencies.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with end-users to turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound business decisions.
- Convert business requirements and high-level data needs into sophisticated financial reporting for planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.
- Build complex queries integrating data from different platforms. Formulate the right approach for presenting data to management. Accurately and adequately address management’s requests for information.
- Partner with appropriate teams to improve data infrastructure and optimize access to accurate and consistent data.
- Engage as the subject matter expert on our current platforms Microsoft SQL Server including SSRS, and Power BI, to determine optimum BI solutions using reporting, data visualizations, BI dashboards, and data analytics to meet business needs.
- Perform analysis for a wide range of requests using data in different formats and from multiple databases. Use critical thinking to explore the data, discover patterns, meaningful relationships, anomalies, and trends.
- Acquire strong knowledge of data housed within our platforms: Elite Enterprise, Elite 3E, AFR, Global Data Insights.
- Support Financial System conversion (Enterprise to 3E) reporting project including migrating reports from legacy systems to Power BI, developing new logic in SQL and DAX, validating reports, supporting our end users.
- Support other team members and consultants with their projects as needed.
- Identify and provide input to new technology opportunities that will have impact on the functionality and design of the Firm’s BI systems.
- Adhere to best practices of information management in line with data security and privacy.
- Other duties as required to fully meet the needs of the position.
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, computer science or information systems.
- 7+ years of business analysis or related technical experience.
- Experience in a law firm or other professional services environment, preferred. Accounting and FP&A exc
- Strong attention to quality, attention to detail, and accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Comfortable working with and supporting business owners; high level of customer service.
- Works harmoniously and effectively with others as part of a small team.
- Effectively manages competing priorities while delivering on time.
- Competent and confident in providing answers that drive business value.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, SSMS, SSRS, and Power BI. Ability to write and troubleshoot SQL and DAX queries. Strong preference for candidates experienced with Power BI including building Power BI dashboards, Report Builder paginated reports, apps, dataflows, lakehouses, scheduling, and security.
- Experience with Elite Enterprise, Elite 3E, Data Insights, and AFR, preferred.
