Under supervision of the Shipping Manager, performs a variety of both routine and non-routine duties in accordance with specific instructions and established work procedures. Some duties involve work of a confidential nature which requires knowledge of the company’s customers and pricing policies.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Assist with paperwork and respond to both e-mail and phone inquiries.
- Prioritize and picking of orders according to the required due date or as directed by a lead person in Shipping, Customer Service and/or Upper Management. Responsible for picking and packing orders to be ready for on time delivery.
- Access and accurately utilize the Materials Resource Planning (MRP) System, specifically with regards to shipping.
- Use hand truck, pallet jack, or other equipment to load, unload, move or stack materials and/or products
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that promotes good relations with customers, clients, co-workers and management.
- Safety shoes (toe protection/slip resistant) and proper PPE must be worn at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school graduate, college education preferred.
- Minimum of two years of experience in the same or associated field.
- Must have working knowledge of the UPS/FEDEX systems as well as preparing freight on pallets.
- Must be familiar with computers running the Windows operating system and be proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Must be trained or willing to be trained in the following areas for the shipping of hazardous materials: 49CFR (Code of Federal Regulations), DOT (Department of Training), IATA (International Air Transportation Association), IMDG (International Maritime Dangerous Goods), and forklift. Must practice good safety habits at all times.
- Good communication skills required.
- Must be able to understand and follow both verbal and written instructions.
- Must be able to work as a creative, flexible, innovative, and effective member of a team.
- Must be able to read, write legibly, count accurately, and perform simple math.
- Must be punctual with good attendance.
