GLO Resources is currently hiring Marine Ships Gear Crane Operators for the Greater New Orleans area. You will be working for a Stevedore company and must be available for 12-hour shifts at a facility that operates 7 days a week. NCCCO is not required so it will not be used in determining the pay rate. The pay will be between $26-$35/hr. DOE. This is an entry level position with room for growth.
POSITION SUMMARY:
In the general cargo operation, the crane operator will operate and maintain assigned cranes and ship’s gear performing lifts as required while providing guidance to assigned gang in the terminal and on vessels/ barges.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for the safe operation of the crane, as well as the safety of the gang on the ships and in the warehouse
- Report unsafe operations and behavior to the assigned production manager
- Responsible for the safe transloading of cargoes and commodities
- Ensures the maintenance of the crane, including performing pre-job inspections and periodic maintenance
- Ensures the assignment of crew personnel to perform preventative maintenance
- Observes load hookup and determines load safety
- Report ALL incidents through company’s reporting protocol
- Support company safety initiatives
- Demonstration of knowledge of all required competencies
- Perform other duties as required
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: At least 2 years of friction and hydraulic crane experience in a maritime/ industrial or warehousing environment
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: High school or equivalent (preferred)
SKILL/ KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience in a similar position in an industrial setting (preferred)
- Working Experience in the stevedoring/ warehousing industry (preferred)
- Ability to safely operate assigned equipment
- Thorough knowledge of rig operation and maintenance programs
- Thorough knowledge of personnel safety programs
- At least 40 hours of seat time in all assigned equipment
- Proficiency in equipment and terminal operations
- Be physically fit to perform all essential physical demands of this job safely
- Demonstrated safe work practices, history, and leadership ability
