**Job Title: Resident Assistant**
**Summary:**
The Resident Assistant (RA), a college or university student, (women preferred) will work and live with Japanese women on the campus of Mukogawa Women’s University U.S. Campus (MUSC). Located in Spokane, WA, MUSC is a branch campus of Mukogawa Women’s University in Nishinomiya, Japan. The RA provides: residence living assistance, leadership and friendship to the students. English language conversation and informal tutoring, as well as Spokane community and American culture orientation and guidance. The RA should possess an interest in cross-cultural communication, education and leadership. In this position, the RA learns firsthand about Japanese culture and customs and should have the ability and willingness to exercise cross-cultural sensitivity.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
1. The RA must have a keen interest in gaining knowledge and skills in cross-cultural understanding and communication is important.
2. The RA must be interested in learning about various aspects of Japanese culture, including customs and food. Knowledge of Japanese language is necessary. (In fact, use of Japanese language with the students is prohibited).
3. The RA must be interested in providing engaging conversation opportunities with the students, in English.
4. The RA's own schedule must be flexible to have a presence in her dorm for an hour in the evening, Monday-Thursday, RA on-call average (which will include some weekends), attendance at RA (and student) orientations, as well as training sessions, and participation in the overall residence community.
5. The RA must be able to handle confidential information appropriately.
6. The RA must be a college or university student in good standing with at least a cumulative 2.5 GPA, but higher is preferred.
7. Junior or senior college class standing is preferred, but qualified sophomores and freshmen in college will be considered. Graduate students are encouraged to apply.
8. Previous experiences in leadership, peer counseling or related activities are preferred.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.28 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
