ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Serves as a member of the department leadership team. Participates in the implementation of the department's vision, mission, and strategic plan.
- Assists with the management of the day-to-day activities of direct reports including recruiting, onboarding & training, performance evaluation, promotion, and disciplinary processes.
- Assist with the management of the planning, prioritization, and assignment of daily work activities to the water staff. Monitors the progress of staff and contractors to ensure that work is completed with high quality and in accordance with federal, state, and City regulations.
- Assist with the management of the maintenance and security of the City's water equipment, machinery, and systems. Assist with monitoring the City's cybersecurity to protect the City's water infrastructure and services. Manages special projects as needed.
- Assists with the management of the monitoring and maintenance of plant and equipment in accordance with preventive maintenance program.
- Assists with the management of the collection, lab testing, and result reporting of water samples.
- Assists with the management of the maintenance, compilation, and updating of plant operation logs and reports. Performs and records mathematical calculations related to plant operational activities under management.
- Assists with the management of the operation and adjustment of water treatment plant pumps, motors, meters, feeders and other equipment to maintain appropriate plant operations. Develops and forwards requests for major repairs and/or equipment and tools to department leadership for approval.
- Assists with the management of the installs, maintains, repairs, modifies, troubleshoots, and services plant operations machinery and equipment including pumps, valves, motors, meters, tanks, reservoirs, feeders, and online analyzers.
- Assists with the management of the general plant facility maintenance such as cleaning, painting and repairing plant facilities. Assists with performing various grounds maintenance duties.
- Assists with the management of the quality control analysis and record keeping in order to maintains lab certification.
- Develops and maintains relationships with water division stakeholders. Engages in networking activities with other water municipalities and water plants. Represents the City on local, regional, and statewide committees or work groups.
- Assist with all operations and compliance reporting for the water treatment plant in accordance with KARS.
- Assists with implementing and maintaining a departmental safety and training program.
- Collaborates with department leadership to coordinate unified and effective responses to any department emergency or investigation. Provides appropriate staff preparedness training as needed.
- Assists with management of the water budget and ensures compliance with department and City guidelines. Provides guidance to water staff on managing and tracking assigned budgets.
- Assists with the development and implementation of a plan for making changes/improvements within the water division to improve and maintain satisfaction levels.
- Assists in the budget development process for the water division, including recommendations for equipment purchases and/or upgrades.
- Participates in professional development activities (i.e. meetings, seminars, conferences, etc.) to improve and remain abreast of professional & legislative advancements & innovations.
