Part-time Nurse Practitioner
Overview:
The Free Clinic of Powhatan is seeking a highly motivated Nurse Practitioner to provide Primary Care to patients in a free clinic setting. The Nurse Practitioner works alongside staff and volunteer doctors and nurses to deliver care to uninsured and underinsured individuals who qualify for services. Duties:
- Provide direct care to medical patients during clinic appointments, including physical examinations, medical assessments, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses.
- Review patients’ laboratory and diagnostic test results and arrange for appropriate follow-up.
- Work in collaboration with Case Managers and administrative staff to address patient referrals to specialty, access to Patient Assistance Programs for brand name medications, and referrals to community resources to address social determinates of health.
- Track progress of patient specialty appointments and ensure results are received and reviewed as a critical part of patient care.
- Monitor and manage chronic health conditions, such as diabetes, hypertension, and asthma.
- Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices, medication adherence, and disease management.
- Efficiently use EMR to accurately chart and maintain up-to-date medical records.
- Act as clinical consultant to non-clinical staff during clinic operations.
- Provide oversight to daily nursing operations and ensures efficient patient flow.
- Participate in activities related to quality improvement, standards of care, provider communications, and protocols.
- Collaborate to develop and implement health promotion and disease prevention programs for patients.
- Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards of healthcare practice, including HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in nursing and certification as a Nurse Practitioner
- Active state license as a Nurse Practitioner and DEA registration
- Experience in Primary care
- Experience in managing patients with acute and chronic diseases
- Ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals
- Passion for providing high-quality healthcare services to underserved populations
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

- No weekend hours required
Schedule:
Monday: 2pm to 9pm – continuity of care for current patients
Wednesday: 9am to 3pm – new shift, hours negotiable
Thursday: 9am to 3pm – continuity of care for current patients
At home review of EMR on Tues/Fri to check for critical high labs or urgent Rx requests.

Pay: $48.00 - $55.00 per hour
