This is an in-person part-time position in Gardner, MA. Hours are flexible, up to 15 total per week, to be completed between Monday, Wednesday, and Friday each week between the hours of 9am and 5pm. Rate of pay is $32/hour.
Position Summary:
The Counselor is responsible for providing assessment and counseling for MVOC clients with mild to moderate mental health conditions and/or substance abuse who are referred by a variety of area agencies. They may also be responsible for administering intake interviews for prospective residents and providing group wellness programming. The Counselor will work to address other social needs of patients and will utilize area referral sources for specialty care, hospitalization, or to advance psychiatric assessments and treatments.
Responsibilities:
· Provide individual, couples and/or family counseling to a caseload 8-10 veteran/veteran family clients utilizing professional counseling standards
· Host counseling sessions to include therapeutic and processing groups, to be designed and developed at the discretion of the Counselor and fellow wellness team members
· Host once weekly on-site hours at one of MVOC’s supportive housing facilities, if needed
· Perform intake assessment on referral clients to determine fit and eligibility for MVOC housing programs as needed
· Conduct assessments of the mental and behavioral health status of referred clients; formulate differential diagnosis of mild to moderate mental health conditions and/or substance abuse
· Identify patients with urgent mental health conditions (e.g. suicidal, homicidal, unable to care for self, etc.) and/or substance use disorders and make appropriate referrals to available emergency, substance recovery, or psychiatric treatment facilities as necessary
· Provide non-scheduled urgent assessment of patients as needed
· Provide written and electronic documentation of counseling sessions, assessments, interventions, and recommendations and to meet requirements for medical records documentation in a timely manner.
· Maintain and update professional knowledge and proficiency through continuing education, staff meetings, workshops and serving on special committees, etc.
· Other duties as assigned
Position Qualifications:
· Master's degree required
· Current LMHC, LCSW, LiCSW, LADC, or similar licensure required
· Valid driver’s license required
· Ability to work effectively with supervisors, co-workers, members of the public, and professional groups
· Veteran Status preferred
